Welding Processes

激光复合焊

One of the characteristics of laser and laser hybrid welding is that the laser power is delivered on to the workpiece in a very small spot.  This means that the welding laser must be positioned very accurately relative to the joint and so the process usually requires laser tracking.

Meta also has extensive experience with laser welding for tailor welded blank applications and with laser hybrid welding for various end users.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is an open arc process is which a non consumable electrode is used to create and maintain the arc.  It is often used without any filler fire, in which case the process is called autonomous.

One common application for GTAW is in tube manufacture.  Meta's laser sensors are compact enough to fit in the tight spaces available and provide highly accurate tracking to compensate for tube rotation.

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is probably what most laymen think of when they think of arc welding.  The term "GMAW" is really the US term for the process, which is better known as MIG/MAG (Metal Inert Gas/Metal Active Gas) in Europe.

GMAW is an open arc process in which a welding wire is used as the electrode to provide the arc while at the same time providing fill to the weld.  GMAW is commonly used on robots, for example, in the automotive industry.
